Felix defends his PhD thesis
Today, our PhD student Felix Schneider successfully defended his thesis on "Figure Ground processing in the auditory cortex of the macaque monkey". Thanks to our external examiner, Dr Stephen Town from University College London, for making this trip to Newcastle. Also thanks to Prof Jenny Read, the internal examiner.
Our lab will be at Association for Research in Otolaryngology's (ARO) annual midwinter meeting in Jan 2020 at San Jose.
Emma Holmes will be giving a talk titled "Active Listening: A Framework for Generating and Recognizing Speech" and presenting a poster titled "Difficulties with Speech-in-Noise Perception Related to Fundamental Grouping Processes in Auditory Cortex"

Emma Holmes has been awarded a Pauline Ashley Fellowship from Action in Hearing Loss.
Summer intern wins award
Our UG medical student Agatha Chu who did a summer internship in our lab wins Newcastle University Research scholarship 2019. You can watch her give the talk during the award ceremony.
