Sameer Iqbal joins our lab to work with Sukhbinder Kumar on his M.Res Neuroscience project.
Today, our PhD student Felix Schneider successfully defended his thesis on "Figure Ground processing in the auditory cortex of the macaque monkey". Thanks to our external examiner, Dr Stephen Town from University College London, for making this trip to Newcastle. Also thanks to Prof Jenny Read, the internal examiner.
Our lab will be at Association for Research in Otolaryngology's (ARO) annual midwinter meeting in Jan 2020 at San Jose. Emma Holmes will be giving a talk titled "Active Listening: A Framework for Generating and Recognizing Speech" and presenting a poster titled "Difficulties with Speech-in-Noise Perception Related to Fundamental Grouping Processes in Auditory Cortex" Alex Billig is presenting a poster titled "Signatures of Regularity in Low- and HighFrequency Activity Recorded from Human Primary and Non-Primary Auditory Cortex" Phil Gander is presenting a poster titled "Mapping the Cortical Tinnitus Network Using Acoustically- and Electrically-induced Suppression" Joel Berger is giving a talk titled "Oscillatory Correlates of Auditory Working Memory in Human Intracranial EEG"  Aidan Samama, Nour Thoformia Abdul Rahim, and Jake Elliott, biomedical sciences undergraduate students join our lab to conduct their final year dissertation projects.
Our UG medical student Agatha Chu who did a summer internship in our lab wins Newcastle University Research scholarship 2019. You can watch her give the talk during the award ceremony.
We welcome UG psychology students Amie Stowes, Ella Morley, Haruno McCartney to our lab.
